Today's long trip to Merzouga will mark the beginning of your journey south. Today, you'll get to experience a different side of Morocco; the contrast between the urban landscape and the countryside will be interesting. Drive through woodlands home to sassy monkeys and the stunning Atlas Mountains.

You will stop in the town of Midelt for lunch around halfway through the trip. When you examine the fossils that this town is renowned for, you will be astounded. Take a look at the amazing pieces the artists produce using these fossils!

​Imagine landing at the "Gate of the Sahara," with its dusty pink structures. As the area gradually turns into a desert, feel the dry heat.

You’ll want to use your morning to explore this small, but fascinating desert town. In the afternoon, you will get to cruise across the land to the Sahara sand dunes by four-wheel drive. At first the land will be flat and dusty, but then almost out of nowhere, tall dunes rise up in front of your eyes and fill the horizon.

The ripples in the sand will certainly make you think of water, even though there isn’t any to be seen. In the morning, the sand is cool enough to walk on barefoot, sand squishing through your toes.

Imagine swaying on a camel out into the Berber tents, watching your shadows distort with the curves of the dunes…

Open your eyes to the dazzling Sahara sunrise over in the cool desert and take the camel trek back to your hotel. You’ll then get back on the 4×4 and head back to Erfoud. You could feel as though you've entered a movie, which is understandable given that Ouarzazate is known as the "film capital of Morocco" and has served as a backdrop for numerous films.

As you enter Marrakech by car, you re-join Moroccan city life and are once more surrounded by activity. Make your way to the well-known Djemaa el-Fna, one of Marrakech's main attractions.
